Farnham Riding School & Livery Yard was established in 1995 by Tamar Bernstein. Tamar identified the need to open a quality facility where riders of all levels with competitive aspirations could receive top class instruction from lunge-rein to A-Grade.
Beginning with one instructor and one school pony, Tamar built Farnham Riding School in Chartwell step by step to be the well-known and highly recommended school and yard that is is today.
In 2009 riding high on the success of the riding school, Tamar expanded the brand even further and opened Farnham Kyalami. This branch caters for everyone from novice riders to those competing at a high level. The Kyalami yard boasts a standard dressage arena, jumping arena, derby arena, a lunge ring, secure tackroom and the Farnham Feedbin Tuckhop. Based less than 1km from the Kyalami Equestrian Park, Indanda Country Base and Indanda Fields, Kyalami is the perfect yard for any kind of equestrian.
In January 2012, Tamar and her team decided to merge both branches of the riding school to create the super-yard Farnham Riding School, based in the heart of Kyalami. The yard has been extended to now include 60 stables, 3 sand areans, access to major show venues, amazing outrides for the happy hacker and fantastic vibe for any rider of any age.
Hand in hand with top riding duo Barry and Lorette Taylor, Tamar has moulded the Farnham name into one of the most talked about equestrian facilities in Johannesburg. Standing apart from the crowd by being one of the only establishments to offer tuition to all levels, all ages with across-the-board coaching, the Farnham family can offer any equine-enthusiast a place of learning, a feeling of family, and the opportunity to excel in their chosen sport.
